Back again for another edition of The Sunday Stitch with Hi and Hello. I'm still riding on my sewing high. I start to get withdrawls when I go more than a few days without firing up the old machine. I know, it's weird.
This week I dove into Let's Sew Together and made this adorable little Robot. I named him Snuggle-Bot. Henry calls him R2D2, which drives the Hubs insane, because obviously he looks nothing like R2D2. Well, that made Henry settle on the name all the more.
This was a pretty simple little project and happily, I had all the materials just lying around. Well, I did run out of fiber filling about halfway through. But other than that, it was another great project to bust through my stash.
Henry helped by picking out the fabric (with a few helpful suggestions from momma) and stuffing his new friend. That stripey fabric is left over from Henry's nursery. I love making things with it that he'll use as he grows to remind me of that little baby.
For those of you who have been keeping up with my Henry sewing endeavors (like this vest and these shorts), he tends to beg for, and then immediately hate, whatever I make him. I was full on expecting that pattern to continue. I only relented to begin the project after 5 full days of begging to make him a robot.
Happily, the first words he uttered once he was stuffed were "Mommy, I love him sooooo much." Thank God.
He and his new pal, R2D2, have been having a big old time together. He has slept with him every night. OK, sometimes he's not enthusiastic about it, but at least he doesn't cry when I try to get him to use it.
I was pleasantly surprised with how easy this project was. We made it in one day over the course of a couple of Max naps. The pattern and instructions were super easy to follow. I like how there are photos of every major step. I get super irritated with patterns that say something complicated and don't show you what it means. I'm excited to do another project from this book.
What have you guys been sewing this week? Or am I the only one needle obsessed? Wait, that doesn't sound right...
